Source: WPI Economics/Trust for London analysis of Income estimates for small areas, ONS, 2011/12 and 2019/20
Note: This isn’t meant to be a comprehensive map of where gentrification is taking place, and to what extent, across London. We only looked at neighbourhoods which, in 2012, had the lowest 20% of incomes. Other areas may have experienced gentrification earlier or started with relatively higher incomes, meaning the true number of neighbourhoods experiencing gentrification is likely to be much higher. By identifying the 53 neighbourhoods that have seen the most extreme increases in average income, we want to understand how gentrification is changing populations.
